MOTAT is the home to New Zealand's most unique and historic aviation collection.
In the hall, you will see many military aircraft such as the famous Avro Lancaster Bomber, de Havilland Mosquito and the more modern Skyhawk and Aermacchi. MOTAT also has a large collection of civil aircraft, used for passenger transport, top dressing and recreational flying, several of which are suspended from the ceiling.
In addition to its aircraft, the Aviation Display Hall hosts a number of small exhibits celebrating the achievements of New Zealand aviation throughout history.
The Sir Keith Park, Bomber Command and Fleet Air Arm displays all recognise the contribution of New Zealand aviators in times of war, while exhibits on Jean Batten and the Walsh Brothers tell the story of New Zealand's aviation pioneers and highlight their many successes.
You will also find the film, MEMORIES OF BOMBER COMMAND, screening in full at MOTAT's Aviation Display Hall.
