01 May 2009 - 200,000th visitor of the year!

MOTAT Welcomes its 200,000th Visitor

The country's largest transport and technology museum, MOTAT, has welcomed its 200,000th visitor through the gate!

Two year old Jaidon Brunton, visited MOTAT with his one year old brother Daniel, and Aunt and Uncle Rachel Brunton and Dan Voss, expecting to see the trams and got more than he bargained for.

Ms Brunton said the family decided to visit MOTAT as a fun family day out for the kids.

"The boys had been asking to visit MOTAT for quite a while; they'd heard about all the cars and trains and were just so excited about going, so we thought why not! It was a bonus to be a part of MOTAT history," said Ms Brunton.

MOTAT Director Jeremy Hubbard said that the day was a great celebration for MOTAT.

"This is a fantastic milestone for us, we're thrilled to be part of an experience that encourages kids and their families to have fun while at the same time learning about their country and their history," said Mr Hubbard.

He added that visitor attendances at MOTAT had increased by more than 50,000 people in the past year.

In honour of the achievement, MOTAT offered the family a MOTAT Mates annual family pass, a book detailing some of MOTAT's favourite artefacts, and a ride-on peddlecar train.
