MOTAT is a special place held in Aucklander’s hearts, so add the MOTAT magic into your next event or function!

We have some great facilities and character to be the perfect venue for your next event, function, wedding or product launch.  

From our multi-award winning Aviation Display Hall (ADH) to the intimacy of MOTAT's iconic Historic Village, our experienced team has arranged shareholder meetings, company picnics, business functions, wedding ceremonies and receptions, parties, product launches, and team building experiences of varying sizes.

We have a range of unique venue spaces on offer which can host up to 800 people in cocktail style or 350 for a seated dinner. Each venue is rich in heritage and available evening or day, with the exception of the Aviation Display Hall which is available evenings from 6pm until midnight. Special circumstances apply for product launches during the day.

We have approved suppliers who can provide catering, event management and audio and visual at the ADH.  You can complete your experience with our special add-ons such as exclusive tram rides or photo opportunities.

As a working museum, MOTAT is subject to a wide range of technical, security, legal and health and safety restrictions and accordingly suppliers and caterers must be certified to operate on our premises. We have a selection of 4 approved caterers which can cater your function.

The Aviation Display Hall has a unique and complicated system for function and exhibit lighting as well as power.  Edwards Sound is the approved AV, Sound and lighting supplier and understands the restrictions surrounding additional equipment and working among collection items. 

Should you prefer to use your own production supplier, a flat fee of $500 + gst will be charged to have your production supplier operate within MOTAT venues.

An Edwards technician is also required to be onsite for all planning meetings, pack in and pack out as well as during the function; an hourly technician fee will be charged by Edwards.
