Shaped like a space ship, the Voyager 1 is a New Zealand made 4D simulator that will take you on a thrilling virtual reality adventure – all featured on a gigantic 9 x 4 metre theatre screen.
Both of Voyager 1’s popular motion movies are now showing at MOTAT! ‘Journey to Eden’ takes you on a thrilling adventure ride over New Zealand’s breath taking Southern Alps, while ‘Journey to the Centre of the Earth’ is an animated roller coaster ride into the depths of the earth as we’ve never seen it before!

MOTAT’s new textile display
From Monday 21 July, Village Gallery in the Victorian Village, Great North Road site
MOTAT is proud to have on display a selection of costumes from the museum’s much loved and valued Victorian textiles collection. ‘From the Cape to the Glove’ is the fourth in a series of textile displays based on women’s ever changing fashion from 1880 to 1914. This exhibition is an opportunity to focus on New Zealand’s shawls, capes, coats and accessories that suited our country’s ‘four seasons in one day’ climate.
