The following are some questions frequently asked of our library staff. If you do not find the answer to your query please fill out the online enquiry form.

Can I borrow books from the Walsh Memorial Library?

No, we are a Reference Only library. But we can provide photocopies of pages as long as it complies with current Copyright legislation.

Can I search the library catalogue through the Internet?

No. The catalogue is not currently available on the Internet. Library staff can help you with your search. As part of an ongoing retrospective cataloging project holdings for books in the Walsh Memorial Library have been added to Te Puna, New Zealand's national bibliographic database.

I am unable to visit the Library is there a charge for research services?

Library staff are able to respond to queries based on our collections. If the question can be answered in a short time (15-20 mins) there is generally no charge. If further research is required there may be a charge  of $ 50 an hour, at the Librarian's discretion. Photocopying charges may also apply.

Would the Library be interested in some of my old books?

The Walsh Memorial Library will consider donations that fit within our current collection policy. We do not collect duplicates of items as we do not have the space to house them - but we do like to collect different editions of the same book to help the understanding of how technologies have changed.
