Techweek’17, a calendar event focused on reshaping our world through design, innovation and technology is back from 6 to 14 May and this year it’s bigger and better. MOTAT is once again participating in this programme which seeks to put our most innovative tech thinkers to work finding local answers to global questions.

Museum visitors can get involved through the range of events we have planned. These include award-winning workshops by OMGTech!, founded by Vaughan Rowsell on 6 and 7 May as well as a free robotics workshop run by Robogals, a voluntary world-wide network of engineers on 13 May. Boys are welcome too!

Those interested in the latest development in gaming technology will be delighted to network with local developers and play games at the Week of Play and Wonder (WOPAW) mini-exhibition in The Idea Collective from 8 to 14 May. This will feature the latest games curated by the NZGDA (New Zealand Game Developers Association), The Arcade Auckland and AUT’s Pigsty Play & Games Lab.

There’s also a free WOPAW Open Gaming Evening (R18) on 11 May from 6 to 8pm with demonstrations of interactive gaming technology from local innovators.
