The Walsh Memorial Library was started with support from the Walsh Memorial Trust and the Royal Aeronautical Society in 1964, so it is as old as MOTAT itself.

The Walsh Memorial Library is a reference only library for use by MOTAT staff, volunteers and the public.

The library aims to conserve technical information relating to older technologies, so we keep things like old manuals to help us keep the technology alive.

The collection contains a range of formats; books, journals, photographs, archives and manuscripts, maps and plans; covering a wide range of topics: trams, trains, cars, trucks, military and civilian aviation, agriculture, photography, communications, engineering and electronics.
