Every month we add new items to our collection! Here is a flavour of what we have added over the recent past.
During the International Geophysical Year 1957-8, the British Trans-Antarctic Expedition led by Sir Vivian "Bunny" Fuchs" crossed Antarctica. Sir Edmund Hillary led a team to provision the second half of Fuch's trip. Seemingly at the last minute, Hillary decided to push on to the Pole ahead of the planned timetable to met Fuchs rather than letting Fuchs have the glory of getting there first being the first man to reach the Pole by mechanical means. This book tells the the story of the expedition. MOTAT has one of the tractors Sir Edmund Hillary took to the South Pole. Hillary's tractor arriving at MOTAT in 1964
