They mostly date from the early to mid 20th century.

Donations
MOTAT is happy to receive donations of materials that fit within our collection policy. We are particularly interested in periodicals to help complete our collection and books on the topics of transport, technical knowledge and social history. For donated material that does not come within our collection policy, we will try to forward those items to other libraries. If you wish to donate any items to MOTAT, please contact the Registrar to discuss your offer. MOTAT appreciates your support to enhance its collections. Email: Enquiries@motat.org.nz

Volunteering in the library
We are always interested in library volunteers, especially people who are knowledgeable in our areas of collection and people with library experience or training. You need to be meticulous and good at problem solving and available for at least a regular 3 hour stint every week. Working in the library can be a stepping-stone to paid library work for those new to the profession or the country.

Jean Batten Scrapbook Material

Thanks to a grant from Te Papa National Services Te Paerangi, MOTAT is proud to be able to make available to researchers a large scrapbook of material about Jean Batten, in a digital format. Previously, because the scrapbook was too fragile to be handled the information was not readily available to people. Now researchers of any age can contact us and use this resource.

For more information about using this unique resource contact the Library on 09 8155 810 or 09 8155 811

Tramways’ Sick and Accident Friendly Society.

The Tramways’ Sick and Accident Friendly Society was established c.1905  to provide assistance to Auckland City Tramways staff, and family members in times of sickness, bereavement or hardship. In later years, with the associated changes in transport and welfare, the organisation changed its name several times until it finally became The Auckland Transport Club, which continued until c.1971.

The Walsh Memorial Library have acquired the following in 25 bound volumes,

As well as the minutes of meetings, the books contain names and some details of members who applied to receive or were entitled to receive financial benefits from the society. The later minute books also contain minutes of a variety of affiliated social and sports clubs
