The process of becoming a volunteer does take some time because it is important that there is a match between your skills and the area/project you may get involved in. Our processes help us to get to know you, and for you to get to know the Museum, to see whether this is the right place for you to volunteer. The recruitment and selection of volunteers follows MOTAT's policies and procedures.
To establish your suitability, you may be invited to an informal meeting. Once accepted, you take part in an orientation day - which is designed to familiarise you with all aspects of the Museum. This provides a good insight into the structure and roles of the Museum including a guided tour of the Museum. In addition, we provide training, specific to the area you may be working in, Museum shop discounts, annual recognition events, and the chance to constantly meet new people and make new friends. As a volunteer you also receive the MOTAT Newsletter, highlighting new exhibitions, events and information.
We seek volunteers who have:
• Lots of enthusiasm
• Excellent communication skills
• Who are team players and reliable
• Are able to participate in training
• Ability to commit to volunteer work on a regular basis
