Head on down to MOTAT these April school holidays for a fun-filled farm experience like no other at The Great MOTAT Agricultural Fair.
From April 5 - 18, the whole family can experience various aspects of New Zealand farm-life and agricultural technology, including tractor rides, gumboot throwing and wheel barrow racing.
"The focus of this event is to have fun and learn as much as possible about New Zealand's farming and agricultural history. There's no better way for kids to learn about agriculture and its significance to New Zealand than getting their hands dirty and having a go themselves - whether it's planting seeds in the Victorian Village or interacting with some of the objects on show," says Angela Willis, Marketing Manager at MOTAT.
In the ‘Make and Take' area, children will be kept busy designing their own rosette sheep badge from sheep fur they shear themselves.
Follow the oinks and chirps to the farmyard where a whole range of your favorite farm animals will be waiting. Kids can feed the porky pigs or pat the friendly horses while parents enjoy country-style candy floss, popcorn and tasty toffee apples.
The kids will be fascinated by the technology on show at MOTAT's ‘Rattle Your Dags' exhibition. New Zealand's most innovative agricultural equipment like the new ergonomic shearers will be displayed alongside artefacts from the past such as the Horse and Plough and Gallagher's Electric Fence.
"We're excited to be able to display these artefacts in such a stimulating way, the kids will be sure to have fun and hopefully take away a little bit of New Zealand's agricultural history," says Ms Willis.
Get ready to be astounded by the developments that New Zealand's agricultural sector has made.
