MOTAT ASKS VISITORS TO DIG DEEP FOR A WORTHY CAUSE THIS CHRISTMAS

The Museum of Transport and Technology is encouraging Kiwis to spread a bit of Christmas cheer this holiday season by purchasing a gift to donate to MOTAT's chosen charities.

MOTAT is supporting the work of the Auckland City Mission and The Salvation Army through its annual toy drive.

Between 01 - 24 December instead of paying their admission fee visitors can purchase a gift from MOTAT's gift shops (located at both the Aircraft Hangar and the main entrance) for the same value as their admission fee and in doing so will be giving back to those in need this holiday period.

The gifts donated will be divided equally between both charities and distributed to their drop-in centres in the Auckland region.

Angela Willis, Marketing Manager for MOTAT says, "Christmas at MOTAT is always a special time of year for us, with so many families in need this Christmas we are thrilled to be involved in giving to charities that really do make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate."

Carole French, Team Leader of Fundraising, Auckland City Mission says, "we are really thankful for the generosity of Kiwis over the holiday period; just one present is all it takes to light up the face of someone in need, it really does make a difference."

The MOTAT shop has a wide selection of boys and girls gifts available, including make your own robot and jewelry kits.  Purchased gifts will be displayed in MOTAT's Victorian Village Chapel throughout the month of December.

In exchange for the generous donations received, MOTAT has a number of activities running throughout December, including printing Christmas gift tags for visitors in the printing section, enjoying the joyful sound of The Salvation Army Band on Sunday December 06 from 12 - 1pm, and the wonderful Christmas lights on the Pumphouse, McLaren Steam Engine, and giant Christmas tree in the courtyard.  Visitors can also enjoy MOTAT's exciting new exhibition ‘Sports Alive!'.
