Recruitment Process

At MOTAT your success is MOTAT's success!

We want you to have a great recruitment experience and make the right decision about your next career step. We undertake recruitment, interviewing, and selection activities to ensure that we employ people who have the knowledge, skills and other attributes required for successful job performance, and the personal characteristics that will enable them to fit in quickly to our organisation and workforce. When selecting people to join the MOTAT Team, we take an objective view, select on skills and experience, demonstration of our core competencies and fit with our organisational values and culture. We also apply our equal employment principles, which are part of our recruitment policies. For some roles we may engage an external recruitment agency to assist us in the recruitment.

Applying for a role

All our vacancies are advertised on our website. Once you have applied, we'll contact you to confirm the receipt of your application. All applications will then be carefully assessed.

Employment screening

All offers of employment will include employment screening. The checks we do will depend on the role you've applied for. All offers of employment will be subject to a satisfactory police check and a check with regards to the entitlement to work in NZ. Additional checks may include criminal history, medical assessments and relevant academic or other professional qualifications.

Shortlist and interview

Within one to three weeks of the closing date, we'll let you know if you have been shortlisted. Sometimes you may have a number of interviews and meet several people from the MOTAT Team. For some roles we use systematic, well-founded and organisation- or role-related occupational assessments or run assessment centres. Beforehand, we'll let you know what to expect on the day.
