Museum Environment Team Member - Cleaner

MOTAT is New Zealand's largest and leading transport and technology museum where history comes to life. We take our visitors on an interactive journey through many of the technological achievements that have helped shape New Zealand. MOTAT provides a working environment like no other. MOTAT is now looking for a Museum Environment Team Member - Cleaner to work in a full time role responsible for cleaning MOTAT's facilities and all other cleaning requirements as set out in the schedule.

The role will suit someone with previous commercial cleaning experience. The role will cover both of MOTAT's sites and will involve working autonomously and with a wide variety of people including volunteers in this very collaborative workplace.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has knowledge and experience in commercial cleaning
• Has great attention to detail and takes pride in ensuring that the role is performed to consistently high standards
• Uses initiative and is pro-active in making sure stock levels and supplies are replenished when necessary
• Is a clear and strong communicator
• A great team player
• Has a good level of physical fitness

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has the desire to be at the forefront of ensuring that the cleaning and presentation of MOTAT's facilities are kept to the highest standards. The hours for this role are Sunday to Thursday from 8:30am to 5pm.

Museum Technician  

Full-time permanent role

Thinking creatively, solving problems, preserving and repairing, organising logistics and being an all-round helpful individual… It sounds like a unique mix of talents, and it’s a unique mix of talents that you’ve got down pat – and it’s the exact mix that New Zealand’s leading transport and technology museum is after.

Apply your many skills as a MOTAT Museum Technician and you’ll be responsible for the relocation, display and storage of collection items, helping present collection items to the public and acting as the key contact for people accessing stored items. On top of getting involved in exhibition design and set up you’ll assess the condition of objects and assist with cleaning, preservation, restoration and repair. You’ll also monitor storage and display environments, providing monthly reports and researching and preparing information about object conservation.

As a solutions-focused individual with mechanical aptitude and good spacial sense here you’ll take real pride in your work. You’ll prove that you’re creative, yet able to work within all sorts of constraints, and you won’t shy away from technology or the odd bit of heavy lifting. Your ability to multitask and methodical approach to precise detailed work will also come to the fore. And, as you’ll be working with a real mix of internal and external contacts, your polite, friendly and confident nature will be critical. Experience in a museum environment and a qualification in museum studies, history or applied arts is also essential.

HR Advisor - Permanent - Full Time

MOTAT is New Zealand's largest and leading transport and technology museum - a museum where history comes to life. Every week MOTAT attracts thousands of visitors and provides them with an interactive journey through many of the technological achievements that have shaped our country. Of course MOTAT is not only a museum beyond compare, it's also a workplace like no other. It's a vibrant, fast-paced and supremely professional organisation... and right now they're looking for a HR advisor to work at the heart of it.

As HR Advisor for this iconic not-for-profit organisation you'll take guidance from the HR Manager as you assume responsibility for maintaining the quality, reliability and integrity of the information and remuneration system and oversee the professional development investment. You'll support the organisation's recruitment and performance management, take charge of a variety of great projects and also manage the work and performance of the HR Administrator.

In addition to building solid relationships with MOTAT's staff and volunteers you must also make certain that all HR data is kept accurate, legislative compliance is met and that all appropriate policies and procedures are effectively followed. And you'll have plenty of opportunity to initiate and implement new ways of enhancing MOTAT's people management capabilities.

Thanks to at least three years of generalist HR experience you've got a solid understanding of employment legislation, proven ability to implement HR strategies and you know your way around the PayGlobal HR information system or similar. You've strong communication and computer skills and whenever you see a great opportunity you're the first to jump at it - yet you manage to remain conscientious and accountable with superb attention-to-detail at the same time. Ideally you have some project management experience and knowledge of the not-for-profit world too.
