New Developments:

 Western Springs Tramway Extension.

The Tramway from MOTAT - Great North Road site, to the Auckland Zoo has been extended to MOTAT - 2, the site of the Sir Keith Park Memorial Aviation Collection and the Rail and Military collections. Construction work commenced in September 2006.  The project cost  $1.9million, with the major portion being carried out by Jesmond Construction Ltd.

This tramline was officially opened by the Prime Minister, Helen Clark on 27 April 2007.

Visitors to MOTAT are be able to travel the 1.7km journey between the two sites [a 3.5km return trip] by tram, free of charge, during the Museum's operating hours.
